Responsibilities

The selected candidate will have overall operational leadership of shipyard and associated workshops. The position is located in a port town in one of Asia’s fastest growing economies.

Reporting to the CEO of the company, the COO will be responsible for:

Daily operations, planning and coordination

Improvement in operational efficiency through effective control of resources.

Implementation of best-in-class processes and systems.

High-end Project Management

Management of customer relations

Ensuring adherence to quality systems and policies

Ensuring development and implementation of safety systems and standards

Cost control and monitoring

Training and development of operations personnel

He/She will play a critical role in the development and execution of the organization’s operating philosophy, policies, and procedures and will be expected to attract, lead, motivate and retain high caliber professionals at different levels.

He/She will institutionalize programs focused on operational excellence to deliver world-class operational performance, while maintaining the entrepreneurial culture and agility of the company; implement modern management concepts for continuous improvements leading to sustained cost reductions and margin improvements; and will be part of the core management team tasked to grow the business into a large globalized corporation and deliver agreed growth and maximization of shareholder value.

Requirements

Critical competencies required for success in this role include strong Leadership,

Operational Excellence, Result Orientation, Entrepreneurial Drive and Interpersonal Skills.

Graduate/Post Graduate Degree or Diploma in Naval/Marine/Mechanical Engineering. An MBA would be preferred but is not essential.

Minimum 20 years of relevant industry experience of which at least 3~5 years should be in operational leadership position

Experience in managing shipyard/drydocks as Head of Operations or Production

 

Exposure to various areas of shipbuilding, including mechanical, steel and structural works.

Strong leadership, communication and project management skills

Proven ability in operations control, people management and training & development.

Fluency in English
