Cheetah Marine export successes

Tue, 30 May 2017

Isle of Wight, UK catamaran builder Cheetah Marine plans to exhibit at Seawork International a new 8.5m hydrographic craft prior to its delivery to SinoHydro, a Chinese hydropower and construction company engaged in building a multi-purpose bridge project in Bangladesh.

Easily transportable between survey sites, the vessel features two mounting points for deployment of survey equipment together with a sidemount for ADCP and a single beam sounder and a central moonpool for deployment of a widebeam multibeam system.  Twinned with the vessel’s 0.5m shallow draught, the complete assembly will allow complex surveys to be carried out in rapid flow shallow water zones with minimal crew.  She will later be shipped to Chittagong before continuing by road to Dhaka.

Meanwhile, Cheetah Marine has also recently launched a new 11.2m vessel destined for the Congo for survey operations on behalf of an un-named dredging organisation.  The company claims to be building  around 30 bespoke craft a year at its Ventnor yard. Recent clients include Cardiff Harbour Authority, Aberystwyth University, W&Z Surveys of Belgium and a port authority in Marseille.
