CTRUK WINS ORDER FOR TWO MORE 22m COMPOSITE WORKBOATS

Colchester, 20 April 2015 – CTruk has won an order for two more of its 22m multi-purpose catamaran Wind Farm Service Vessels (WFSVs). Both will be delivered to leading offshore wind service supplier CWind this summer as the first-of-class CWind Sword continues to impress on the EnBW Baltic 2 Offshore Wind Farm in Germany.
Peter Jorgensen, CWind managing director, commented on CWind Sword’s performance: “CTruk’s 22m WFSV has proven to be a valuable addition to the CWind fleet, particularly from a passenger comfort perspective. There is ample space on this vessel for technicians to change and stow wet kit before moving into the main seating area for a comfortable transit which is of key importance when working in challenging weather conditions. She is also effectively executing load carrying and refuelling duties as part of her current contract, with the large, reconfigurable payload area giving multi-role capability. That makes her a very sound investment and we eagerly await delivery of the next two.”
Experienced skipper and CWind boat share partner Matthew Lane of Ventus Workboats is delighted with the vessel’s performance in harsh conditions: “She is extremely competitive with vessels much larger in size and maintains speed and smooth motion in rough seas. We’ve experienced no drop in performance even when carrying large bunker loads and the spacious foredeck will be hugely beneficial for the upcoming demobilisation on this site, giving us twice the deck capacity of the smaller boats.” 2
East Anglia-based builder CTruk continuously incorporates performance feedback into its designs to further enhance seaworthiness. The CTruk MPC22, with the inherent versatility given by the company’s patented reconfigurable deck design, represents a very cost-effective option for WFSV operators looking to build an optimum vessel mix into their fleets to meet the expected surge in demand.
The new CTruk MPC22s will feature the Volvo IPS system for optimal bollard pull and service speeds, significantly increasing the already renowned fuel efficiency of the company’s vacuum-infused composite catamarans.
Due to an extremely efficient modular production process, CTruk can currently offer two more MPC22 build slots for this season, with capacity at its new facility on the River Colne in Colchester for five more slots by spring 2016.
The next MPC22 to leave the production line, the 27th WFSV that CTruk has produced since its launch five years ago, will make an appearance at Seawork in Southampton from 16-18 June 2015 before she is officially handed over. The team will exhibit on stand B9 with the vessel on display at berth V25.
