Upcoming opportunities in developing inland waterways in India

Opportunities in preparation of feasibility studies, environmental impact studies, supply of dredgers, vessels, navigational aids, river information systems, DGPS and more. Total project size is around US$ 700million.
Government of India plans to augment navigational infrastructure of National Waterway-1, which runs from Allahabad to Haldia. This augmentation project will be achieved by strengthening of open river navigation techniques, river training and conservancy, structural improvement and hardware which includes, dredging, modern river information system (RIS), Digital Global Positioning System (DGPS), night navigation facilities and modern methods of channel marking. The aim is to developed adequate infrastructure to facilitate navigation by bigger vessels of 1200-1500 Dead Weight Tonnage DWT).
It is estimated that the proposed project would require an expenditure of Rs. 42 billion (US$ 700 million) with the Wold Bank expected to provide financing of around US$300 million.
It is expected that procurements for this project will include consultants for preparation of detailed feasibility reports, DPRs for ancillary works/civil structures and processes, environmental and social impact assessment of the project and market and business development study.
Goods & Equipment
Procurement for goods and equipment will be done for dredgers, river/sea inland vessels, navigational aids, Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS), river information systems, channel marking technology, construction of terminals, slipways and jetties.
Specific procurement notices for contracts to be bid will be announced as they become available.
