RAMFORM VIKING ORDERS SOLASOLV® SUNSCREENS
Thu, 10 April 2014
Solar Solve Marine has recently received a large order for it’s class approved roller screens to be installed at the navigation bridge of the Ramform Viking – an Ultra High Capacity 3D Seismic vessel.
The vessel was built at Langsten S&B in Norway and launched in 1998. She is 9,500 GT with a length of 87 metres and a beam of 40 metres. When launched she acquired over 5000 sq km in her first European season West of Britain, despite not leaving the yard until April. She worked her first winter in West and South Africa before spending a highly productive period in Brazil’s Campos Basin. She returned to the North Sea in 2000 and since then Ramform Viking has worked in Europe, India, West Africa, the Middle East and the Gulf of Mexico. She is managed by Wilhelmsen Ship Management AS.
Solar Solve specialises in providing sun and glare protection for the marine and offshore industry, and SOLASOLV® anti-glare screens are installed at the windows of all types of ships, rigs and cranes worldwide. Regarded as an essential safety product, they effectively reject up to 87% of heat and up to 93% of glare from the sun to significantly reduce eye-strain. Visual displays are easier to read and a clear outward view is maintained for safer navigation and marine operations. A more comfortable working environment means the ships’ crew are less prone to fatigue which can cause human error. Suitable for newbuilds and retrofits, SOLASAFE® screens are guaranteed for 7 years and Type Approved by Lloyds, ABS and DNV.
Paul Hopkins, Sales & Marketing Executive at Solar Solve commented, “This order for SOLASAFE® sunscreens was quite a significant investment representing a total of £12,000 for Wilhelmsen which shows they hold great faith and value in our company and the products we manufacture.”
