Maintenance catamarans for Plymouth

Mon, 24 March 2014

UK-based Docking Solutions has delivered the third of four maintenance catamarans to Plymouth’s naval dockyard, Devonport.

The vessels, which have been designed for “easy access”, consist of a 9.5m long pontoon platform and a three-tier aluminium tower structure.

“Docking Solutions has resolved several technical design issues that have enabled us to meet our requirements,” said Simon Waters, design manager of the MOD at Devonport.

The catamarans will enable the Royal Navy to easily maintain and re-paint vessels during periods of refit, says Docking Solutions.

The first catamaran was delivered in September last year.
