British Safety Council International Safety Award

Together with Cobham Aviation Services based at RAF Waddington we have been awarded a British Safety Council International Safety Award in the distinction category, for commitment in ensuring the health and safety management of our employees.

The International Safety Awards scheme is now in its fifty fourth year and is open to organisations of all sizes across all industries.  The award seeks to promote high standards of health and safety management practice in order to prevent workplace injury and ill health

Barry Stone, Cobham Engineering Director said:  “Cobham is delighted to receive this prestigious award from the British Safety Council. It recognises the efforts of our team operating at RAF Waddington and the collective ambition to raise our safety standards to the highest possible levels. Without doubt this achievement will spur on the staff to set even higher levels of safety in the workplace and further cement our working relationship with BAE Systems on this contract”.

Announcing the results Alex Botha, Chief Executive of the British Safety Council said:  “We send our warmest congratulations to all 550 winners.  Over the last year I have had the opportunity to meet with the managers and employees of a number of the winning organisations and have been struck by the commitment and dedication they have shown to managing health and safety in a appropriate, sensible and effective manner.

What the winners have demonstrated is that well-managed health and safety ensures the safety and wellbeing of their employees, contributes to business and effectiveness and success.  The health and safety of employees is non-negotiable and the winners have shown their determination, like us, to ensure that no one is killed, injured or made ill by work activities”

The British Safety Council is proud to congratulate all of the winners on their success and effectiveness in keeping their employees healthy and safe”

Winning organisations span all sectors across the UK, Middle East, and India.  This year the long established award has been won by 550 organisations, with 125 gaining distinctions, 348 receiving merits and 77 passes.
