More Offshore Orders For Solasolv® Sunscreens

Thu, 11 April 2013

South Shields based Solar Solve Marine has received three more orders for their SOLASOLV® anti-glare, heat rejecting roller screens for navigation bridge and control room windows from the Offshore industry during March.
SOLASOLV® screens are installed at the windows of ships, rigs and cranes of all types and sizes worldwide. They reject up to 87% of heat and up to 93% of glare from the sun.  Eye-strain is significantly reduced ensuring computer displays are easier to read, and a clear outward view is maintained for safer operations. With a more ambient room temperature the crew have a comfortable working environment and are less prone to fatigue which can lead to human error. Suitable for newbuilds and retrofits, SOLASOLV® screens are Type Approved by Lloyds, ABS and DNV.
In early March Transocean Searcher, a semi-submersible drilling rig, placed an order for 12 SOLASOLV® sunscreens. This was followed by orders for West Pegasus another semi-submersible drilling rig, and Ocean Rig Mylos, a drillship which is being built at Goeje Shipyard, South Korea. In total, 24 screens were dispatched.
Paul Hopkins, Solar Solve’s Sales and Marketing Executive commented, “We have seen a dramatic shift in orders from traditional marine vessels such as bulk carriers and container carriers to offshore vessels such as drilling rigs and drillships. It shows how the landscape is changing in our industry and we are adapting to meet these new demands.”
